8 Like Family

Evangeline’s PoV

“I love him already,” I sighed out in happiness as I sat beside Enzo on a couch in one of the many rooms in here watching tv, I stared at the tv never moving my eyes away from it as I watched the series Good Girls, If you can’t already tell I’ve fallen in love with Rio, He’s just perfect,

“And I’m gonna switch it off,” Enzo spoke, stretching the ‘and’ while staring at me weirdly,

“Oh no!, Come on!, We were just getting to the fun part!,” I exclaimed, protesting,

“The fun part?,” I nodded my head, feeling hopeful that he’ll change his mind, “Want me to spoil the fun part?”,

My mood instantly dampened slightly, I gave him a disapproving look as I let out a huff like I imagine a little toddler would, I’m just realised I’ve never ever met a tiny person before,

Wow, that’s mind blowing,

“I’ll spoil it, He fucks her in the bathroom of a restaurant while her husbands waiting at the table for her.”,

“Didn’t need to say it like that,” I mumbled, This is the first show I’ve ever watched on a tv and I think I may have gotten too excited and annoyed him,

“Sorry,” he sighed out, “I just didn’t want you to watch it because you’re like a sister to me, you know and you’re too innocent for that.”, I gave him a small smile before I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him in for a hug,

“I guess I finally got a brother.”,

We had just finished dinner and everyone was leaving the room, Tobias was suddenly next to me before he swiftly pulled me aside before anyone else saw, My back was against the wall as Tobias stood directly in front of me, He was so close I could feel his minty breath hit my face,

It was then that I noticed the scar he carried just above his eyebrow, It was barely visibly but it was there, I guess it’s probably from his childhood because it’s so faded,

I’m practically an expert in injuries,

His index finger played with the strap of the dress that was on my shoulder making my breath hitch in my throat, It pulled my attention from his scar to what he was doing, Why do I feel so nervous?, This is the closest I’ve ever been with anybody, “Evangeline, you’re gonna be here for a while, aren’t you?”,

I didn’t say a word, I didn’t know the answer,

“I will find out the truth about you one way or another,” he promised me, like I was some big mystery, his voice low and deep making a shiver run down my spine,

“Such a pretty mystery, aren’t you?,” he mused confirming my recent thoughts, My chest began heaving up and down slightly as I tried to grab as much air as I possibly could, Hopefully he didn’t notice,

We both stayed silent for a moment as he continued playing with the strap on my shoulder, “I’ll get you a new wardrobe too, See you later, Eva.”, With that, he dropped his hand and took a step back, gave me the once over, then left,

That was strange, He’s barely spoken to me since I’ve been here, So why am I only now gaining his attention?, Not that I want to gain it or anything but you get what I mean, right?,

I’ve only been here for a little over a week and the only person who’s really looked after me is Enzo, For him, I’m grateful but I’m a little confused on why I’m even here because Tobias and Eros don’t seem too happy with the arrangement,

At least I’ll be getting my own clothes now instead of whatever the lady that works here gives me,

I forgot to thank him for getting me the teacher, Enzo claims he got me the teacher,

I’ve only had a lesson and I already know the whole alphabet, Hopefully, I won’t forget it,

Tobias’s PoV

“You’re not fucking touching her,” Enzo stormed into my office, at the base, yelling at me, I froze slightly before catching my composure, Evangeline’s terrified of me, She wouldn’t tell him about the little moment in the hallway, Plus I didn’t even do anything wrong, He halted in his place when he saw I wasn’t alone,

“Caterina,” he spoke, halting in his steps, giving my fiancée the once over, “What are you doing here?”,

She shrugged her shoulders and walked towards Enzo, “I was just leaving but it’s great to finally see you again.”,

“Yeah you too,” he responded, choking on his words as she walked past him with a smile,

“This is the base,” I began to lecture him once she was out of earshot, “You can’t come screaming in here like a little bitch every time you have a problem.”,

“What is she doing here?”,

“She’s my fiancée,” I told him, “She can come whenever the fuck she wants, So what’s this bug problem you had to come yelling in here for?”,

“My big problem is that Evangeline is family to me so if you wanna put her with the other girls you’re gonna have to go through me,” he revealed going back to what he initially came here for, I let out a small sigh as I realised he was talking about our plan,

I let out a sigh and ran a hand down my face, “Did you really have to start feeling that way?,” He didn’t say a word, “I should’ve got Theodore to babysit her instead.”,

“Dude,” he said flatly, “She’s like a sister and a best friend all in one, She’s amazing.”,

“This is business and this is our world, You can’t let your fucking feelings in the way of it, We’ve all agreed with the plan so that’s what going to happen, You can start to like it or not, I really don’t give a fuck, But she is going to end up with the other girls.”,

“Fuck you,” he spat out as he angrily jabbed a finger at me, “And fuck your fake fiancée too.”,

“Wow,” I exclaimed sarcastically with no emotion at all, “Way to ruin a secret.”, He narrowed his eyes at me as I rose from my seat behind my desk, “Listen close you little asshole, We’re at the fucking base, not at home, You can’t let your fucking feelings get in the way, If I hear that someone has fucking heard you, I will murder you with my bare fucking hands.”,

“Fuck you,” he spat out again before turning and leaving my office, Fucking dumbass,

I really hate kids,

He’s only 17 but he’s still a kid,

Sometimes when he acts like a spoilt fucking brat, I wish our parents were alive before I realise that the spoilt little shit doesn’t deserve what I got,

I grabbed my phone and made a call,

“Bring her down to the base, Enzo’s gonna end up doing something stupid.”,

I cut the call and just sat there hoping that he hasn’t already done something stupid because if he has then he’s just fucked everything up for us,
