CALYPSO.9
by xionghuanAoki The Next Day
Illoni talked me into coming to the Furious Four house with her. I really didn’t want to come because I had a feeling that Massiah would be here. It’s been two years since I’ve been here. I can’t believe I let her talk me into coming with her for this nigga. Mainly because Melody is here, as always.
“You smoke?”
I look up from my phone to see Quan holding a blunt. I shake my head and go back to looking at my phone. I’ve been scrolling through Twitter the whole 30 minutes I’ve been here. I’m starting to get hungry just sitting here. I miss my baby too. Maybe I should go home.
“She always this quiet?”
“Yeah, she barely talks to me and I’m her cousin”
“Fam, this bitch ain’t never got no food. Y’all niggas ain’t hungry?”
I look up to see Massiah walking out of the kitchen. As he licks his lips, he looks directly at me, making eye contact. My cheeks warm up and my stomach turns.
“Wassup Calypso”
I push my hair behind my ear. “Not my name”
“You ain’t care while I was inside you” he smirks.
Rolling my eyes, I stand up from the couch. Everybody looks at me as I start walking to the door. Out of everything he could have said, he just had to say that. That night is still a little foggy for me.
“Where you going?” Illoni asks.
“To get something to eat. Text me what you want.” I pull my hoodie over my head.
Seconds later, it gets pulled off. I glance over my shoulder to see Massiah following close behind me. I roll my eyes and open the door. I attempt to close it behind me, but it doesn’t move.
“What we finna get?”
“We not getting shit, so can you not follow me” I mumble, pulling my keys from my pocket.
I step onto the grass and walk to my car. I can feel him still following me which makes me start walking a little faster trying to avoid looking back.
“Can’t do that, Ca-” he starts, but I turn around and speak over him.
I poke my finger in his chest, “Stop calling me that and I really don’t understand why you’re on my ass every time you see me. You been out for what.? Almost a month? And you just started acknowledging me when you wanna know about my daughter. You didn’t care when you decided to do something stupid to get locked up. That shit left me to take care of her by myself. But it doesn’t matter so can you just leave me alone right now?”
He smiles, showing his pearly white teeth. It’s like he’s amused by me getting loud just a little bit. That alone lets me know I just gave him the satisfaction of knowing that I wanted him around even if it wasn’t for me. And it’s honestly pissing me off a little bit.
“Not till you tell me” he licks his lips.
“Since you really wanna hear it, she’s your daughter. Her name is Stormi and if you wanna meet her, I’ll let you know when and where.”
“Bet, but I’m never leaving you alone” he flicks my tittie.
As he walks around me, I stomp my foot on the ground and ball up my fist. I could scream right now. Just being near him makes my blood rush through my body and my emotions run wild. It’s like my mind hates him because he stupidly got arrested which left me to take care of Stormi on my own. My heart feels for him because I hated him for two years when he didn’t just disappear by choice. And my coochie wants him because obviously, he made me feel good that night. I don’t know how to feel anymore…
After calming myself down, I turn around to make my way to my car. He’s leaning on my freshly washed black Malibu. If he thinks he’s coming with me, he got another thing coming. He can drive his own goddamn car.
“Get off my car” I unlocked the doors.
“Nah, we got a lot to talk about” he opens the door.
I push his hand off the door and sit inside. I slam the door shut. I let out a deep breath and set my keys and phone in the cup holders. After a second or two, I put my foot on the brake to start my car.
He opens the passenger door and gets in. “I hope you know I’m back for good.”
“Get out of my car”
He pushes the seat back, “My girl don’t go nowhere by herself unless I say she can”
“Sucks to be her, now get out” I raise my voice.
“Guess it sucks to be you” he looks at me. “Let’s go”
“I don’t know who you think you are, but I’m going ’cause I’m hungry. Not cause you said to” I put the car in drive and sped off.
“I’m him” he puts his hand on my thigh.
I flick his hand, “My boyfriend wouldn’t appreciate you touching me so get your filthy hand off me.”
He squeezes my thigh, “Let him know you mine, so he can get gone.”
Feeling a dampness between my legs, I shift my body in the seat. I don’t like this. At all. My coochie needs to be on the same page as my mind because I’m trying so hard not to want him right now. Not only that, I like and care for Kieth so much that I feel guilty for even being near this man.
I slam on the brakes, “Get out”
“Girl drive”
“No cause you not respecting my space right now. I don’t want you touching me” I attempt the move his hand.
He sucks his teeth and moves his hand. “You tripping. It ain’t like I ain’t do it before.”
Suddenly an empty feeling replaces his touch. I glance down at his hand, wanting him to put it back but Kieth crosses my mind.
I take my foot off the brake. “And it should’ve never happened.”
I pick up my phone to play some music as make my way to Gotti’s. Outside of the music playing, the car ride was quiet and awkward. I don’t feel uncomfortable around him, I just don’t know what to say to him. But I can’t help that I’m perfectly fine being near him because my body is craving for his touch.
⇟
“You really fuck with that nigga?”
I look up at Massiah, “What?”
We’re waiting for the food to finish. He hasn’t said a word to me since I started heading to the restaurant.
“That little shit you got going on. You fuck with that nigga for real?” He runs his hand across his jaw.
“Why does that matter right now.?”
“Why you can’t answer the question?”
“Why you wanna know?”
“Why can’t I know?”
I sit my phone down, “Why can’t you mind your business?”
He smirks, “Why would I do that?”
“Why wouldn’t you?”
“Why-” he starts, but pauses as his eyes drop the second my phone lights up. “That’s him?”
“Mind your business” I flip my phone over.
“You is my business”
I scrunch up my nose, “Mm, not at all”
“Since you had my kid, you been my business” He leans closer to me. He was already leaning up against the table, now it’s like he’s kind of hovering over it.
He finds out that Stormi is his daughter and he’s just dragging everything out. Almost like he wants me to know that I’m stuck with him no matter what. I already knew that when I found out I was pregnant because Stormi is a part of him and I carried her for nine months, so it was like he was a part of me.
His smile grows bigger and he bites down on his bottom lip. Seconds later we make eye contact and my stomach flutters, but not in a sick way. It’s the same flutter I got two years ago when he would get close to me. When I liked being around him despite knowing that he wasn’t a good person to be around. When it was worth walking past him or just him trying to talk to me.
After a long moment of pure silence and him staring at me, our food gets set down on the table. I’m the first to look away as he continues to stare into my soul.
“Thank you,” I tell the guy as he places my drink on the table.
“No problem,” he taps the table before walking away.
My eyes follow him and he looks back at me, smiling. I grab a bag and return my attention to Massiah. He grabs the other two bags, looking over his shoulder.
Massiah stands up, “Wipe that goofy ass smile off yo face for I put I hole in it.”
My eyes navigate toward the guy again, just as he shakes his head and keeps walking to the register counter. I’m sorry, I thought.
The whole time we’ve been waiting on our food Massiah has threatened anybody that looks at me. Even if I didn’t see them looking at me. I don’t know what his deal is with me right now, but I want it to stop.
I push the chair under the table and pick up my drink. As we head out, Massiah steps in front of me and pushes the door open. I freeze waiting for him to walk out, but he just holds the door open.
“Ma, come on” he mumbles.
“Not my name” I roll my eyes and walk out to my car.
“You gone be whatever I call you”
This nigga is about to get on my nerves if he doesn’t start calling me by my name. Why did I even leave with him in my car.? Now I gotta drive back to his house with him in my freaking car. When we get back over there, I’m not staying. On god, I’m leaving and Illoni just gone have to ride with Melody.
